Jim Hughes, 82, of Auxvasse, Mo., passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in Columbia, Mo. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1600 W Rollins Road, Columbia, Mo. with a visitation and reception to follow. Jim was born September 18, 1935, in Greenville, Mo. to John Frank and Helen Estes Hughes. On August 17, 1958, he married Judy Bach in Bloomington, Ill. He was a 1957 graduate of MU with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture. He spent most of his life in Agriculture, growing up on the family farm, and then having a career in Ag-sales with MFA before purchasing his own farms. He also ran Hughes Brothers Trailer Sales, Auxvasse for over 40 years. He was very active in the Trinity Presbyterian Church. He served many years on the American Soybean Association Board and was also a board member for Kingdom Telephone Company. He served his country for two years (1958-1960) in the US Army in Ft. Leonardwood, Mo. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved family meals and spending time with all his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Judy of Auxvasse; children, Sherry Campbell of Auxvasse, Mike (Brenda) Hughes of Auxvasse, and Jeff (Melody) Hughes of Covington, Ga.; brother, Chuck Hughes of Auxvasse; grandchildren, Miranda (Andrew) Payton, Cody (Amie) Fennewald, Brian (Ericka) Hughes, Brandi Hughes (Juan Rodriguez), Shelby Hughes, Jerrick Hughes, and Savanah (Justin) Almand; great-grandchildren, Kody, Ski, and Jackson Fennewald, Emilee and Braden Hughes, Kai Rodriguez, and Emmalyn Rae Almand; nephews, John (Shirley) Hughes and Scott (Liz) Hughes; and great-nephews, Ben and Will Hughes. His parents preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brotherhood Fund at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
