Jerry Dean Leopold Sr., 80, of Auxvasse, Missouri, passed away on January 25, 2018, at Gamma Road Lodge Nursing Home in Wellsville, Missouri. Jerry was born August 14, 1937, in Mexico, Missouri to Elmer and Nettie Gottschall Leopold who preceded him in death. He was married to Joyce Lewis on May 13, 1961, and she preceded him in death in 1995. Jerry was a 1955 graduate and valedictorian of Auxvasse High School. Following his graduation, he began working at Kaiser Refractories and continued there for 47 years until his retirement. While working at Kaiser Refractories, he also worked as a gas station attendant in Auxvasse and he owned his own painting company. He was a member of the Lucky Wheels Race Track ssociation from Auxvasse. Jerry enjoyed dancing to Country and Western music but his greatest love was listening to Jack Buck announce the St. Louis Cardinal baseball games. Jerry believed in helping others whenever possible and he will be remembered as a good father who was always willing to take care of his friends and family. He is survived by children, Jerry (Christine) Leopold Jr. of Green Cove Springs, Florida, Sheryl Lackland of Marshall, Missouri, Larry Leopold of Spartansburg, South Carolina, Bobby Gordon of Auxvasse, Tim (Lindi) Leopold of Frankford, Missouri and Brenda Gordon of St. Charles, Missouri; sister, MaryRose Mock of Mexico, Missouri; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren along with the children of Virginia Miller, Robin (Pat) Hull of Wisconsin and Steve Miller of Auxvasse. Jerry was also preceded in death by his special friend of 15 years, Virginia Miller and his twin brother, Larry Leopold. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 29, 2018, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton, Missouri. No graveside services are planned. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mexico Cancer Center's Patient Fund, in care of Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, Missouri 65251.
