Gabriel William Polston, 5, of Fulton, was freed from his pain and called home to his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 8, 2018, after a lengthy and valiant battle against cancer. Gabriel was born on December 18, 2012 in Columbia, Missouri. He was the spirited and fun-loving son of Jeremy Polston and Erica (Markley) Polston, who always considered themselves blessed to be Gabriel's parents. Everyone Gabriel met was instantly his friend. His child-like faith carried him, his parents, and family throughout his journey with cancer. His ability to maintain his giving heart, always think of others, and find reasons to dance, despite his illness, were an inspiration to all who followed his journey. Gabriel loved to sing, entertain and tell stories. He had a true love of all animals and dinosaurs. Most importantly, Gabriel taught everyone to truly cherish and make the most of every moment by encouraging them to LIVE LIKE CRAZY! Those remaining to cherish every moment of Gabriel's short but beautiful life include his parents, Jeremy and Erica Polston of Fulton; grandparents, Donnie and Dollie Polston of Fulton, and Norma and David Stanek of Warrenton; uncles and aunts, Donnie Polston Jr. and wife Michelle, Chris and Lea Anne Shetler, Jeff and Carletta Markley, Eric Markley, Cindy and Ed Szczepanski, Lauren and Michael Philippi and Edita Wysocki; several cousins; special friend, Ava Santhuff; and a multitude of friends he met during his illness at Cardinal Glennon and other hospitals. Gabriel was welcomed to Heaven by the angels, including his grandmother, Nancy Markley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Callaway Christian Church with Pastor Mike Crowson officiating. Those attending are encouraged to dress comfortably and wear blue, which was Gabriel's favorite color. Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the church. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Super Sam Foundation, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251. Condolences may be left for the family at www.maupinfuneralhome.com.
