Ruth Lucille Gilman

Ruth Lucille Gilman, 82, of Auxvasse, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on March 13, 1935 in Overland, Missouri, the daughter of the late Edward Marquette and the late Adeline (Woitchek) Marquette. On March 11, 1950, Ruth was united in marriage to James Lee "Jim" Gilman, who survives her passing. Ruth loved her family and was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She enjoyed baking for her family and taking walks and playing in the creek with the children. Her hobbies included traveling to see new places, sewing, crocheting, gardening, and canning her harvest. Ruth was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for more than 40 years. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband of 67 years; son, Gary Lee "Joe" Gilman (Janice) of Auxvasse; daughters, Kathy Gilman of Dixon, Sandy Gilman of Jefferson City, Cindy Hudson (Frankie) of Auxvasse, and Jennifer Garrett (Creag) of New Bloomfield; 15 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Those preceding her in death include her parents; sons, James Richard Gilman and Randall Dean Gilman; granddaughter, Angela Plybon; brother, Edward Marquette Jr.; and sister, Virginia Nolte. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Dr. Ronald Baker and Reverend Guy Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Auxvasse Cemetery.
