Charles Truman Lee Underwood, 86, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at his home. Charles was born July 5, 1931 in Montgomery County, Missouri to Ernest and Willena Alexander Underwood, who preceded him in death. He was married to Joy Elizabeth Vaughn on September 24, 1949 in Callaway County and she preceded him in death in 2012. Charles worked at the Shoe Factory in Fulton and for Paul Herring Construction Company before working at Harbison-Walker Manufacturing until his retirement in 1989. Charles was a member of White Cloud Presbyterian Church and he liked to deer hunt. He will also be remembered for working on the farm and doing custom hay baling for many area farmers. He is survived by a son, Jesse (Jackie) Underwood of Carthage, Tennessee; daughters, Helen (James) Burbridge of Fulton and Nancy (David A.) Miller of Fulton; brothers, Ernest (Lanetta) Underwood Jr. and Melvin Underwood, both of Fulton; sisters, Jessie (Walter) Bowen of Calwood, Missouri and Joyce (David) Hicks; grandchildren, James (Nicole) Holt, Lee (Janette) Holt, Matthew Edwards, John Edwards and David (Kasey) Miller, who both serve in the U.S. Navy, Charles (Nikki) Underwood, Jessica (Jerry) Shanks, Elizabeth (Nick) Zanardi, Rebecca (Nathan) Finch and Angela (John) Weston; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Ethel Bass. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2018 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial will follow at White Cloud Cemetery.
