Ire James O'Neal

Ire James O'Neal, 91, of Fulton, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Harry S. Truman Veteran's Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was born on January 2, 1926 in La Porte, Indiana, the son of the late Charlie O'Neal and the late Rose (Rembert) O'Neal. On April 2, 1952, Ire was united in marriage to Lois Dean (Tate) O'Neal. She preceded him in death on September 14, 2005. Ire proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation where he worked as a Maintenance Equipment Operator. He enjoyed taking road trips, fishing and camping, and spending time with his dog, Benji. Ire took pride in his yard and could often be found mowing or working in his garden. His passing will leave an unfillable void in the lives of his family including sons, Terry O'Neal (Edna) of Williamsburg, and Glen Dillon (Shirley) of Fulton; daughters, Brenda Trabue (Mark) of New Bloomfield, and Billie Jean Williams of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Sonya O'Neal of Mokane; sisters, Genevieve Laurie of New Bloomfield and Hazel Sieler (Herb) of North Dakota; 17 grandchildren; 48 great- grandchildren; 36 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife, Ire was preceded in death by a son, Roger Dale O'Neal; brothers, Charles, Preston and Willard O'Neal; and sisters, Irene Weatherby and Helen Peery. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at First Assembly of God Church in Fulton with Reverend Mike Haldeman officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until the time of service at the church. Private entombment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
