Steven Cole Wimmer

Steven Cole Wimmer, 62, of Portland, passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at his home. He was born in St. Louis on June 23, 1954, the son of the late Benard Wimmer and Joan (Schmidt) Thaxton. Steve was married to Gina (Myers) Wimmer, who survives his passing. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and playing cards. While he enjoyed visiting with people, his greatest joy was found in time spent with his grandchildren. Those remaining to mourn his passing include his wife, Gina Wimmer; mother, Joan Schmidt-Thaxton (Bill) of Farmington; sons, Chad Wimmer of Williamsburg, John Wimmer (Brittany) of Fulton, Jerry Wimmer of Williamsburg, Justin Buchholz of Williamsburg, and Jimmie Buchholz of Williamsburg; daughter, Jennifer Wimmer-Feger of St. Louis; godson, Brian DeVeydt of St. Louis; brother, Nick Wimmer of Farmington; sisters, Lisa Sansoucie of Indianapolis, Ind., Linda Schmidt (Don) of St. Louis, and Christine Slaughter of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Readsville, with Pastor Mary Maddox officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
