Donald J. Albert, 87, Warrensburg, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at home. He was born in St. Louis on April 29, 1930, to Richard M. Albert and Marguerite V. Hepp. He married Shirley L. Hoeffner on December 22, 1951. She survives. Don served in the U.S. Army from October 1951 to September 1953, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He completed Army Leadership School and Airborne Training and received two Bronze Campaign Stars and the Combat Infantry Badge while serving with the 45th Division, 279th Infantry, Company C, in Korea. Don spent 45 years in the agriculture business, 20 of those years as a sales representative for Cargill Inc. selling Nutrena livestock and poultry feed. He was elected to the President's Club for outstanding performance in 1973 and 1975. He joined the International Multifoods Corp. Board of Directors in 1976 as a district manager, then in 1977 was promoted to field manager, managing 10 districts in 15 states. In 1985 he was promoted to area operations manager supervising underperforming districts. After retiring in 1992 from International Multifoods, he worked as a management consultant with IMC until 1997. Don was a member of the Thunderbird 45th Division Museum and Association, Korean War Veterans National Museum and Library, and American Legion Post 131, Warrensburg; president of the Board of Trustees and vice commander for Post 131 and the 6th District in 2003; finance officer of the Johnson County Freedom Festival Committee; a member of the Old Drum Transportation Committee; member and president of the Keth Memorial Senior Mens Golf Association, the Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland, and the National Parkinson Foundation. He was the father of eight: Karl R. Albert, Aledo, Texas; Stephen V. Albert (Debi), Fulton; Terry J. Fockler (Doug), Centerview; Kenneth J. Albert (Jenny), Fulton; Thomas K. Albert (deceased); Glenn C. Albert (Claudia), Venice, Fla.; Guy F. Albert (Jonna), Warrensburg; Keith W. Albert, Independence. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard F. Albert, High Ridge. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine V. Lahay. The family will receive friends at First Christian Church in Warrensburg from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday June 19. Private family burial will be held in St. Louis at a later date. Memorials may be made to: the First Christian Church; Serenity Care Hospice; or the Parkinson Foundation of the Heartland. Donations may be left at the First Christian Church of Warrensburg.
