Madeline Carol (Bryan) Wilcox, age 77, of Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at her home. She was born on January 14, 1940, in Allerton, Iowa, the daughter of Cecil Amis Bryan and Beulah Edith (Halfhill) Bryan, who preceded her in death. Madeline graduated high school in 1958 from Allerton High School. Upon graduation she moved to Des Moines, Iowa, for a short time where she worked until she married Larry Wilcox on April 12, 1959. For the first several years of their marriage they frequently moved throughout the country due to Larry's work. In 1965, the couple bought a home in Los Gatos, California where they lived until 1971 when they moved to Columbia, Missouri. Madeline was baptized in and a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. She was deeply religious and enjoyed volunteering in the church library, being a part of Christ Care and Stephens Ministries at Community United Methodist Church in Columbia, Missouri. She loved to travel and visited all the states, with the exception of Alaska. She and Larry enjoyed going on numerous mission trips to South America. Madeline enjoyed reading, sewing, and doing counted cross-stitch. She delighted her friends and family by making birthday cards on her computer. She is survived by her husband, Larry, of Columbia, Missouri; four children, Greg Wilcox (and wife Cathy) of Harrisburg, Missouri, Tammy Sellmeyer (and husband Greg) of Fulton, Missouri, Randy Wilcox (and wife Robin) of Columbia, Missouri, and Kara Wilcox-Bauer (and husband Rob) of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren, Justin Wilcox, Jessy (Wilcox) Kohm (and husband Matt), Lucas Sellmeyer, and Megan Sellmeyer; four siblings, Marcilee Yeager (and husband Bill), Shirley Huisman, Clell (and wife Linda) Bryan, and Fran Henderson (and husband Rich). She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant son, Mark Wilcox. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Community United Methodist Church in Columbia, where a Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Curtis Olsen, officiating.
