Laura "Adeline" (Martin) Dixon, 94, passed away, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Fulton Presbyterian Manor. Adeline was born August 17, 1922, in Fulton, the daughter of Berkley Miles Martin and Mary Anna (Erwin) Martin. Adeline was married November 20, 1943 in Fulton, to Ray Arden Dixon. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2006. Adeline attended grade school at St. Eunice and graduated from Fulton High School in 1941. She worked as a proofreader at The Ovid Bell Press for 33 years, before retiring in 1987. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church since her youth. She was the first woman elected an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulton and had served as a Sunday School teacher for more than 50 years, a member of the sewing circle club in the church; a member of The Order of Eastern Star holding several of the stations; and a member of the Fulton Garden Club. Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, and reading. She is survived by two sons, Martin (Phyllis) and Bruce (Shirley), both of Fulton; two grandchildren, Ray Dixon (Emily Freet) of Issaquah, Wash., and Sarah Dixon (Matthew Smith), of Columbia, Mo.; two great-grandchildren; Quinn and Quanah of Issaquah, Wash.; a brother, L. Ray Martin (Maxie) of Mexico, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother, Erwin Berkley Martin. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church in Fulton at 3:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Aaron White and Pastor Bruce Williamson. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until time of services.
