John Wesley White, 87, of New Bloomfield, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at his home. He was born on September 27, 1929, in Marseilles, Illinois, the son of the late John Wesley White Sr. and the late Marie (Byers) Brooks. On February 28, 1950, John was united in marriage to Margaret Ann (Perry) White. She survives his passing. John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. After 37 years of employment, John retired from Fulton State Hospital where he worked in security. John loved his farm, cedar creek, his Harley Davidson, but most of all, his family. John's memory will forever be cherished by his wife of 66 years; daughters, Sharon Kay Baysinger of New Bloomfield, Judy Geotz (Bob) of Columbia, Linda Brandt (Lonnie) of Holts Summit, and Rhonda Strickland (Gail) of Fulton; sisters, Edna Marie Fischer of Fulton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by brother, Marlyn White. Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Maupin Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
