Roger Dale Beamer, 63, of New Braunfels, Texas, died Tuesday December 20, 2016, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas after complications from open heart surgery. Roger was born on October 18, 1953, in Mexico, Missouri to William Ward and Adelia Dorthea Beamer. He was a lifelong resident of Mexico and Fulton until the last 4 years when he married and moved to New Braunfels, Texas. Roger received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and was a longtime Correctional Sergeant for the State of Missouri, where he retired in 2013. Roger was a contract worker for The Department of Justice in Iraq where he developed a profound friendship with his interpreter Ghafar. In 2009, Roger sponsored Ghafar and his family in becoming US Citizens. Roger loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandson grow. He loved baseball. There was no team equal to the St. Louis Cardinals. Above all else though, Roger loved the Lord. Anyone having met or known him left him as a better person. He is survived by his mother, Adelia Dorthea Beamer of Mexico; wife, Janis Davis Beamer of New Braunfels, Texas; children, James Brian Beamer and Lilah Nicole Beamer of Madison, Mo.; step-daughter, Tara Autry of San Antonio, Texas; step-daughter, Tamara Autry Parrish, spouse of Michael David Parrish; grandson, Colin William Parrish of Pflugerville, Texas; sister, Doris Ann McCune of Mount Vernon, Texas; brother and sister by choice, Ghafar Aziz and Suzan Mohammed and their two sons Lano and Sano; several nephews, nieces and cousins and his cat Cry Baby. He was preceded in death by father, William Ward Beamer and brother, Anthony Ward Beamer of Mexico, Mo. A Celebration Of Life will be held at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2624 Audrain Rd 335 in Mexico, MO, Saturday, January 7, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. Finally, the family asks in lieu of flowers, you honor Roger by donating to your local animal shelter. Roger loved his stray cat Cry Baby.
