Randel "Kent" Hasselman, 61, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 11, 1955, in LaHarpe, Illinois, a son of Edward L. and Norma J. (McFall) Hasselman. Kent was a graduate of Jefferson City Public High School, attended Lincoln University and Linn Technical College. He was a member of the First Christian Church and worked as a clerk for the State of Missouri in the Division of Motor Vehicle. He was disabled at the age of 19. Prior to his injury, he was in the Who's Who among American High School Students, a member of the Boy Scouts, the 4-H and the Quarter Horse Association, was active in sports and enjoyed working on his car. Kent is survived by his mother, Norma: brother: Michael L. (Marilyn) Hasselman of Jefferson City; Aunt: Phyllis (Kenneth) Kooyman of Pella, Iowa and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Hasselman in 2002. Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at First Christian Church in Jefferson City. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2017, at First Christian Church in Jefferson City with Reverend Sarah Kingsbery officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to First Christian Church or St Jude Children's Hospital.
