Maxine Miller Thomas

Maxine Miller Thomas, 93, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the Candlelight Lodge following a long illness. Maxine was born to Bonnie Bell and Thomas Tucker Miller in Kansas City, Missouri on April 24, 1923. Her family later moved to Olathe, Kansas and then to Fulton. She married George William (Bill) Thomas in Fulton on June 24, 1949 and they later moved to Columbia. Maxine enjoyed traveling, music, dancing and most of all, her volunteer work at the Boone Hospital. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Silkey and husband Bruce; her son, Jerry Miller Thomas and wife Lisa; six grandsons, Bruce Silkey Jr., Luke Silkey, Brian Thomas, Troy Thomas, Tyler Thomas, and Grant Thomas; and one granddaughter, Maria Thomas; eight great-grandchildren, Whitney Silkey, Mallory Silkey, Katie Silkey, Kari Silkey, Jacob Silkey, Felix Thomas, Natalee Thomas, and Adeleigh Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; an older brother, Thomas T. Miller; and her twin brother, Eugene Miller. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 25 with burial at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Fulton. Visitation will be on Friday, February 24 from 5-6 p.m., both at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia, Mo.
