William Wallace "Bill" Ashurst

William Wallace "Bill" Ashurst, 66, of Lake Tapawingo, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Select Specialty Hospital in Kansas. He was born in Fulton on June 30, 1950, the son of the late Robert Craig Ashurst and the late Sarah Sue (Steveson) Ashurst. On February 14, 1996, Bill was united in marriage to Mary "Pat" (Mahaney) Ashurst. She survives his passing. Bill retired from IBEW 124 following 45 years of service. He was a realtor and broker and owned rental property. His hobbies included collecting old cars. Bill was known for his sharp wit and uncanny sense of humor. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife, Pat; sons, Craig Ashurst of Buckner, Mo., and Brandy Ashurst (Stahr) of Independence; daughter, Cherry Ashurst of Harrisonville, Mo.; step-daughters, Lisa R. Groom of Kansas City, Mo. and Joanna Anthony of Holts Summit, Mo.; grandchildren, Chelsey Ashurst, Haley Williams, Joseph Ashurst, Brandy Ashurst, Zachary Ashurst, Addriana Brown, Kiara Ashurst, Tony Brown, and Kalani Ashurst; step-grandchildren, Shawnna Brown, Shawn Brown, Andrea Mulcahey, Amber Butler, and Alainnah Anthony; great-grandchild, Colton Choate; and step-great-grandchildren, Thojuree Johnson, Tomisaac "Loose Change" Johnson, Jackson Brown, Grant Brown, Kyndrie Brown, Xavier Walker, Keaton Walker, Avery Mulcahey, Harper Mulcahey, La'Kendrick "Rambo" Gurley; and nephew, Jamie Ashurst. Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by step-daughter, Leona "Peaches" Tapp, and brother, Gary Ashurst. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until the time of service at the funeral home.
