Victoria Jean Cavanaugh

Victoria Jean Cavanaugh, 55, of Fulton, Mo., passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Boone Hospital Columbia, Mo. from pancreatic cancer. Vicky was born on April 20, 1962, in Ancon, Canal Zone, Panama to George and Gloria Hallett. Vicky graduated from Lee's Summit High School in 1980 and Louisiana State University in 1985. She went on to complete a PhD at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in Biomedical Science. She worked at EVMS and Scripps Research Institute as a post-doctoral fellow. In recent years, her greatest joys were her granddaughter, Wren Ritzo, and time spent with her family and friends. Vicky is survived by her husband, Paul Cavanaugh, and daughters, Meghan Ritzo and Caitlin Cavanaugh. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 618 Halifax Road, Holts Summit, Mo., with a brief reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Vicky.
