Winifred "Alene" Griggs

Winifred "Alene" Griggs, age 95, formerly of Fulton, died peacefully on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, in Dothan, Ala. Alene was born on October 26, 1921, in Marshall, Mo., to William Mabry Moore and Lillie E Moore. She graduated from Fulton High School in 1939, and began work as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She then began a long career as a dental assisant with the Fulton State Hospital. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. Alene enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, as well as Mizzou Tigers sports. While living in Fulton, she spent many joyful hours at the Fulton Senior Center dancing, shooting pool, and playing cards with her many friends. Alene is survived by her children, Dennis R McKee (Sue Barge), of Rochester, N.Y., her daughter, Kathryn "Katie" Woodham (Mike), of Dothan, Ala.; her grandchildren, Claudia Crider and Christian McKee, both of Rochester, N.Y., John A Brown and Zachary Brown, both of Dothan, Ala.; as well as many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Griggs of Fulton, and a son, William J McKee Jr. "Bill", formerly of Fulton. A funeral is scheduled for Sat., August 19 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., the same day. Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, with Rev. Mindy Kiepe officiating.
