Leonard William Bruns, age 93, of Fulton, completed his earthly journey on Saturday, April 15, 2017. He was born in St. Charles, Missouri to Edwin and Martha Bruns on January 31, 1924. He resided in Ferguson, Missouri with his wife, Betty (Schwab), and his two children for 60 years before moving to Fulton in 1987. He was a World War II Army veteran who participated in the D-Day landing on Utah Beach. He was a lifelong enthusiast of steam power and he passed his passion for steam engines along to his whole family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty, of Fulton; son, Leonard "Red" (Debbie) Bruns of Fulton; daughter, Valerie (Flake Brantley) Bruns of Weaverville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Shawna (Mike Soptik) Bruns of Fulton, Chris (Sarah) Bruns of Holts Summit; and great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Zane and Rylie. As an only child, Leonard was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. A service celebrating Leonard's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Hospice Compassus or the Missouri River Valley Steam Engine Association, both in care of Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, MO 65251.
