Ruth A. Watson, 73, of Fulton, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016, at Fulton Manor after fighting a tough battle with cancer. When she was no longer able to zip around the building and be the quintessential butterfly it was time to take a different path. Ruth Ann was born in Mexico, Mo., to Harold Watts & Anna L. (Jones) Watts. She lived in Mexico and then later moved to Kansas City where she attended Saint Teresa's Catholic School. After school, she moved back to Mexico, but it did not take her long before she headed to Fulton with her family. Ruth Ann was known downtown for several years for being a volunteer at the Callaway Chamber of Commerce, where she would assist the stores in whatever they needed. She even made the newspaper one year for it. Ruth loved helping others and being able to chit chat with all the people. Ruth Ann never met a stranger and never left anyone being a stranger. She is survived by her three children, W. Marti Watson, Kansas City, Mo., Doris A. Watson, Lees Summit, Mo. and Anita Lee (Chris) Davis of Norfolk, Va.; four grandchildren, Brandi (Mike), Shane, Joyce and Jonathan; and one grandson, Kolten. Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her father, Harold; her mother, Anna Lee; her grandparents; and aunt and uncles. A celebration of Ruth Ann's life will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the East Lawn Memorial Cemetery, 425 S. Jefferson St., Mexico, Mo. Afterwards, please come and share your favorite memories of Ruth Ann with her family and friends at 6 p.m. at the Post Office Bar and Grill, 100 W. 5th St., Fulton, Mo. Please donate to your local Cancer Association.
