Martha Jane (Prather) Denton

Martha Jane (Prather) Denton, 78, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2016, at Fulton Medical Center. She was born on January 30, 1938, in Iberia, Missouri to Lee H. and Florence (Becker) Prather. Martha was united in marriage to the love of her life, Bill G. Denton on November 28, 1957. He preceded her in death on August 16, 1992. Martha was a graduate of Iberia High School. She worked in St. Louis in the mid-50's. In the early 60's, she, Bill, and their young son moved to Auxvasse. After several jobs in the Auxvasse area, she settled down to run Bill's insurance office in downtown Auxvasse. Martha was a member of the Grand Prairie Baptist Church of Auxvasse. Survivors include one son, Dan G. (Janet) Denton; brothers, Bill (Connie) Prather and Richard (Kathryn) Prather; brother-in-law, Robert Whermann; grandchildren, Brandy (Matthew) Nylund, and Cherie Fye; five great-grandchildren, Chloe Fye, and Joshua, Jacob, Noelle, and Nicolas Nylund; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many good friends. Martha was really proud of her great-grandchildren and loved to show their pictures to everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Mike Prather; and her only sister, Ann Whermann passed on September 8, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Livingston Cemetery in Iberia, Mo.
