William D. Gess

Col. William D. Gess Jr., 80, of Notasulga, Ala., died Thursday, September 8, 2016, in Notasulga, Ala. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Jean Gess; seven children, William R. Gess, Angela G. (Mike) Smith, Tammy Harris, Terrence Gess, Tony Gess, Aaron Gess and Sharon Gess; his mother, Erna Mae Gess; three sisters, Delores Kemp, Anna (Charles) Galbreath and Karen Gess; one brother, John (Shannon) Gess; seven grandchildren, Ollie "Roman," Jamie, Melanie, Jasmine (John), Brandy, Tyia and Kayla; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives; and many friends. Visitation was held Thursday, September 15, 2016, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Peoples Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Washington Chapel A.M.E. Church with Rev. Andrew T. Holtz Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with the Peoples Funeral Home directing. Arrangements are under the care of Peoples Funeral Home, 500 Fonville St., Tuskegee, AL 36083.
