Herbert S. Modlin

Herbert S. Modlin Jr., of Palmetto, Fla., passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016. Herbert S. Modlin Jr. was born on October 19, 1944, in Pittsburg, Kan., the son of Herbert S. Modlin Sr. and Lorene M. Modlin, who both preceded him in death. Herb proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He then was employed by Pennzoil Company, retiring after 29 years of loyal service. Herb lived his life as a compassionate, loving husband, brother, and friend. His family and friends will always have memories of his fun-loving personality. Herb married Cheri Greger on July 12, 1969, in Fulton, Mo. She survives. Other survivors include brothers: Dave Modlin of Fayetteville, Ark., Charles Modlin of Emporia, Kan., and James Modlin of Fayetteville, Ark.; sister, Lorene (Lori) M. Cashero of Independence, Mo. He is also survived by mother-in-law, Bonnie Greger of Mexico, Mo.; sister-in-law, Garnet Autenrieth of Ocean Springs, Mass. and brother-in-law, Ken Greger of Hannibal, Mo. He was preceded in death by brothers, John Modlin and Ronnie Modlin; father-in-law, Garland Greger, and brother-in-law, Lynn Greger. Graveside services and burial with full military honors will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2016, at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton, Mo. Rev. Steve Mallinckrodt will officiate. The family is being served by the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel, in Hannibal, Mo.
