Mary Goss Hughes

Mary Goss Hughes, 75, of Hatton, was called to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, September 7, 2016. She was born on June 17, 1941, in Canton, Ga., the daughter of the late Clearance E. Goss and the late Thelma (Lewis) Goss. On August 16, 1964, Mary was united in marriage to Charles V. Hughes. He survives her passing. Mary retired from the Department of Corrections where she worked as a Vocation Supervisor. She was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. Mary enjoyed working with her flowers and gardening, but her greatest pleasure was found in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband of 52 years, Chuck; sons, John L. Hughes (Shirley) of Los Angeles, Calif. and Scott E. Hughes (Liz) of St. Louis; brother, C. E. Goss Jr. (Susie) of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; sister, Julia Baldwin (Cecil) of Macon, Ga.; and grandsons, Benjamin and William. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2016, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Rebecca Dunger Peak officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
