Joe Donald Salmons, 82, Fulton, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Mo. He was born on May 22, 1934 in Callaway County, Mo., the son of Vollie and Lucile (Shryock) Salmons, who preceded him in death. He was married on June 12, 1959 in Callaway County, Mo. to Jackie Siegel, who survives of the home. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired after 30 years from the United States Postal Service as a city mail carrier. He was also a member of the Southside Baptist Church and drove a school bus for Fulton School District. Joe's first love was for his God. In his final days he told his wife he wanted his family to all know of Jesus' forgiveness and to live for him. His greatest pride was his children, grandchildren and in recent years he adored his three great-grandchildren. He spent many hours pushing his grandchildren in the swing and sitting on benches watching their sporting events. Anyone that engaged in conversation with him soon learned of his love of sports, especially the Cardinals and the MIZZOU Tigers. Most spring and summer days he could be seen in his bib overalls tending to his garden. He grew beautiful flowers and bountiful tomatoes for the purpose of sharing with everyone he knew. His numerous nieces and nephews will miss his secret recipe for ham and noodles which were always the favorite at the large family gatherings. Other survivors include: two sons, Brad Salmons (Jana Rae) and Brent Salmons (Jennifer), both of Fulton, Mo.; one daughter, Jennifer Jill Davis of Fulton, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy Jean "Dot" Vaughan (Eugene "Cotton") of Fulton, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Jaymie Hitchcock of Overland Park, Kan., Jaylyn Wilson (Jonah) of Fulton, Mo., Jenna Salmons of Lawrence, Kan., Briar Davis of Columbia, Mo.
