She taught in a one room school house there during World War II, where she began dating Herbert Edwards, a soldier who was on furlough before heading overseas. In 1994, Daphne and Herbert sold the family farm and moved to Millersburg to be closer to their daughter. Daphne was a member of the Millersburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crafting and attending craft shows, reading and tending to her flower garden.
