Mildred M. Maupin

Mildred M. Maupin, 100, of Fulton, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at Boone Hospital Center. She was born on April 12, 1916, in Genoa, Ill., the daughter of the late Warren Hetherington and the late Mabel (White) Hetherington. On May 28, 1936, she was united in marriage to Clayton Maupin. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2004. Mildred was a member of Carrington Baptist Church. For 25 years, she worked for the shoe factory where she made shoe boxes. She was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed needle-point and quilting. She made quilts for each of her children which they treasure. Mildred also enjoyed cooking. Spending time with her family was the most important thing to Mildred and brought her great joy. Those remaining to cherish her memory include her son, Doyle T. Maupin (Helen) of Fulton; daughters, Phyllis J. McCubbin of Fulton and Patricia J. Shaffer (Stanley) of New Bloomfield; brother, Bobby Hetherington (Lucy) of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sister, Maxine Fulton of Sun City, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Don, Wilson and Russell Hetherington; sisters, Hilda Hetzel, Dolly Carlson, Wilma Duhlstein and Geraldine Hetherington; two grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Brother Jack Coleman officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
