Elizabeth Gray Bartley

Elizabeth Gray Bartley, age 100, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016, in the Manor Grove Nursing Home in Kirkwood, Missouri. She was born to Campbell Bartley and Julia Mosley Bartley on February 9, 1916, in Fulton, Mo. She was the sister of Mary Schmitt, Clinton Bartley, and Martin Bartley, all now deceased. Miss Bartley graduated from Fulton High School and William Woods College. After college she worked as an administrative assistant and later did public relations for Missouri Portland Cement in St. Louis. From the late 1960s through 1975 she worked as a buyer for GEM Stores and lived in Kansas City for a number of years. She returned to the St. Louis area, moving to Webster Groves in 1975, and worked as a buyer for Garland's until 1981. She worked for Bunce Co for a year and retired in 1982. In 1977 Miss Bartley was stage manager for the Gridiron Show put on by the Advertising Women of St. Louis, which raised money for cancer research. She was the co-producer of the show in 1978 and 1981. Miss Bartley was also a member of the DAR. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and giving tea parties, and she loved watching sports, especially Cardinals baseball and NFL St. Louis football. Miss Bartley is survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and even great-great-great-nieces and nephews living all over the U.S. Her family and her friends and neighbors from the St. Louis area will miss her greatly.
