Lawrence Ellis Owens, Jr.

Lawrence Ellis Owens Jr. (Larry) 91, of Fort Worth, Texas, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016, in Fort Worth, Texas. He was born to Lucille Irick Owens Hinkle and Lawrence Ellis Owens Sr. on October 17, 1924, in St. Louis, Mo. and raised by Lucille and Homer Hinkle in Fulton, Mo. He married Virginia Kirby of Murphysboro, Ill. He was a long time resident of Fulton, Mo., and was a partner in the Midwest Auto Store with his father, Homer Hinkle. He is survived by his son, Gary; daughter-in-law, Kathryn; daughter, Linda of England; sister-in-law, Arlene Rodgers; grandchildren: Cary, Amanda, Karen, Tracy, Angela, Bobbi, and Clement; 15 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; parents; sister, Evelyn Owens Windsor; brother-in-law, Ray Windsor; parents-in-law, Lela Griggs and Lewis Kirby; and many loving friends and relatives. He will be greatly missed. His body was donated to science in hopes of helping others. There will be a memorial at his son's home in Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday, May 21, 2016, to celebrate his life.
