Ona E. Sobba Potter, 98, of Auxvasse, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Fulton Manor Care Center. She was born in Campbell, Mo. on April 15, 1918, the daughter of the late John Dickens and the late Maretta (Damron) Dickens. She was united in marriage to Leo Sobba on August 20, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was later married to Aubrey Potter who also preceded her in death. Ona was raised in cotton country, one of 11 children. Leo and Ona bought a farm west of Bernie, Mo. in 1940 and continued farming cotton. In 1962, the moved to the Hatton community where they continued to crop farm and raise cattle. Ona enjoyed going to the Callaway Senior Center to play cards, dance and play pool. The days she wasn't at the center, you could often find her fishing. Ona stayed vibrant and active until recently when her health declined. Ona is survived by daughter, Wanda Holt (Bill) of Auxvasse; grandchildren, David Holt, Paula Cox (Bruce), and Becky Holt, all of Auxvasse; step-grandchildren, Clint Cox (Tiffany) of Fulton, and Jeff, Jennifer, and Mike Potter; great-grandchildren, Cassandra Cox, Courteney Cox, Tyler Wilson, and Taylor Holt (Clay Robinson); and great-great- grandson, Blaine Robinson. Along with her parents and husbands, Ona was preceded in death by 10 siblings. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Rebecca Mulford officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
