Zeta Potts

Zeta Potts, 84, of Fulton, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016, at her home, her family by her side. She was born on August 8, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of the late Leo A. Boone and the late Nenie (Blackburn) Boone. On July 1, 1950, Zeta was united in marriage to Floyd W. "Short" Potts. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2006, after more than 56 years of marriage. Zeta was a waitress all her life and prided herself in her work. She was a member of the Fulton Nazarene Church and sang loudly and proudly there with her sisters. She enjoyed her family immensely, relished bargain hunting, collecting angels, word puzzles, and classic TV series such as Bonanza and Little House on the Prairie. Anyone who tasted her fried chicken agreed it was the best they had ever tasted. Those remaining to cherish Zeta's memory include her children, Floyd W. "Buddy" Potts (Doris) of Fulton, Terry L. Potts (Cathy) of Fulton, and Nina Dee Taylor (Jack) of Jefferson City; sister, Lena Fetterhoff-Holland of Mexico; brother-in-law, Carson "Juke" Potts; grandchildren, Stacie, Jason and Shawna Potts, Hollie Johnson, Aaron Potts, Jennifer Patrick, and Shane Rice; several great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Zeta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Brenda Lou Potts; siblings, Vincent Boone and his wife Ruth, Nina Boone Yocum Holland and her husband Harvey Yocum, and Wayne Boone; step-grandson, Dustin Wayne Taylor; brothers-in-law, Curtis Fetterhoff, Hallie "Tite" Holland, and William "Toad" Potts; and in-laws, Margie and Fred Holloway, Edna and Clive Quick, Hazel and C.M. Davis. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
