Richard J. Pfeiffer

Richard J. Pfeiffer, age 69, of Mokane, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Ashland Health Center with his wife by his side. He was born July 11, 1947 in Kansas City, Mo., the son of the late Lesline and the late Leonard Pfeiffer. On February 5, 1977, Richard was united in marriage to Dee Pfeiffer. She survives his passing. Richard proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He liked to fish and hunt, often going to Montana to elk hunt with his brother or deer hunt with his friends. Richard is survived by his wife of 39 years; daughters, Dee Bailey of Sacramento, Calif., and Penny Bailey of Fort Scott, Kan.; son, Bob Bailey of Fort Scott, Kan.; sisters, Janice Nick, Nancy Patton, and Cindy Blanton; brothers, Tom and Mike Pfeiffer; and his beloved dog, Manuel. Along with his parents, Richard was preceded in death by brother, Nick Pfeiffer; step-son, James Bailey; grandson, Ryan Bailey; granddaughter, Kaylie Bailey; and great-granddaughter, Lana Bailey. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2016 in Steedman Cemetery with Father Frank Bussmann officiating.
