Ruby K. Underwood, 88, of Mokane, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at Boone Hospital Center. She was born on September 24, 1927, in Mokane, Mo., the daughter of the late Floyd Burch Kemp and the late Nellie (Rogers) Kemp On February 22, 1958, Ruby was united in marriage to Thomas Underwood. He preceded her in death on October 30, 2014. Ruby was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She spent her life working as a homemaker and caring for her family. In her younger years, she played music with her siblings. She continued to play guitar and enjoyed playing music throughout her life. Ruby was a gifted seamstress, and she made beautiful quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was also a talented artist who loved to paint. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Ruby will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Cheryl Jennings (Roy) of Hallsville and Carolyn Brooks (A.J.) of Fulton; sister, Dora Potts (Tommy) of Fulton; sisters-in-law, Patty Kemp of Holts Summit and Alva A. Underwood of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren, Christopher Womack, Kristy Wilcox, Tara Aragon and Curtis Brooks; and two great-grandchildren, Lucas Aragon and Dillon Wilcox. Along with her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by brothers, Russell and Richard Kemp; sisters, Helen Leeper and Edith Bosch; and step-son, Edward Sheboyia Underwood. Private graveside services will be held at Ebenezer Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Alzheimerís Association, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251.
