Daniel Raymond Acosta, 55, of Portland, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born June 19, 1958, in Pueblo, Colorado, the son of the late Joseph Acosta and Hope (Rotondo) Acosta. On March 18, 2007, Daniel was united in marriage to Linda (Wheeler-Holliman) Acosta. She survives at their home. Daniel spent 20 years in the United States Navy. He also spent 20 years in the Freedom of the Road Riders. He was a life-long member of the VFW and a member of the Central Missouri Dart Association. He loved the outdoors, gardening, mowing, cooking, playing pool, bowling, and writing poetry. Most of all, he enjoyed caring for his wife. Along with his wife, Daniel is survived by his sister-in-law, Margaret Rodecap; son, Mark Holliman of Fulton; daughters, Tania Branch (Creedance) of Las Vegas, and Donda Willenburg (Brian) of Fulton; brothers, Tim Acosta (Joan) of Colorado, Phil Acosta (Vicky) of Kentucky, and Joseph Rotondo; sisters, Roberta Jo Vujcich (Dan); and 10 grandchildren, Darlene and Creedance Branch of Nevada, Tara, Elisa, Brinan and Riley Willenburg of Fulton, Raysean and Clarine Franklin, and Xavian and Bianca Holliman of St. Louis. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Hams Prairie Cemetery.
