Dr. Jeffrey Lance Nolte, 51, of New Bloomfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at his residence. He was born April 23, 1962, in St. Charles, Mo., the son of Larry Nolte and Luaine (Gaines) Nolte. Jeff graduated from Fulton High School and obtained his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Kansas University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Kansas State University. His passion for education lead him to positions as Director of Midland Empire Community Arts at Missouri Western State College in the Division of Continuing Education, Associate Dean of Academic and Director of Lifelong Learning at Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Chief Administrative Officer and Dean of Kent State University at the Salem and East Liverpool Campuses. Jeff loved music, gardening, woodworking, trout fishing, and spending time with family and friends. His children were the light of his life. He was proud of Audrey's beautiful voice and he loved cheering Seth on in his various sports activities. Jeffrey is survived by his parents, Larry and Luaine Nolte of Fulton; his children, Audrey and Seth Nolte of Salem, Ohio; sisters, Ronnee Schweizer (Jay) of Blue Springs, and Edie Stark (David) of Columbia; and nephews, Jacob, Luke, and Timmy Schweizer, Alex Anderson, and Alec Stark. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as many special friends in Missouri, Ohio, and North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ervin and Ina Nolte and William R. and Nelda Gaines. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Maupin Funeral Home with Reverend Guy Thomas and Reverend Jim Shaver officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the time of service at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Auxvasse Cemetery.
