Venna Juanita Moore, 90, of Kennett, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at her home following a short illness. She was born October 6, 1923, in Moberly, the daughter of the late Wesley Hess and Myrtle (Burgan) Hess. On Christmas Eve in 1938, she was united in marriage to Russell Moore. He preceded in her in death in 2009. Venna was a homemaker. She enjoyed time spent with her family more than anything. Those remaining to cherish her memory include two sons, William "Bill" Moore and Russell Moore, both of Broseley; three daughters, Patricia Lira (Joe) of St. Louis, Brenda Moses of Kennett, and Pamela Willett (Roger), also of Kennett; seven grandchildren, Debbie Lira, Rhonda Caswell, Tina Bezler, Tracy Moses, Angela Woodruff, Shanna Baysinger, and Billie Moore; 12 great-grandchildren, Tony Herr, Michael Caswell, Matthew Caswell, Dexter Battles, Derek Battles, Danielle Bezler, Ashley Moses, Justin Gordon, Courtney Watson, Cody Watson, Candace Baysinger, and Makayla Baysinger; three great-great-grandchildren, Darrell and Ava Miller and Audrie Battles; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Walter Hess, Earnest Hess, Bobby Hess, Gene Hess, and Charles Hess; three sisters, Opal Brooks, Lucy Franklin, and Ruby Way; and one granddaughter, Samantha (Moses) Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Mark Kummer officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Sugar Creek Cemetery in Moberly.
