Annie Lee Paul, age 71, of Tebbetts, took the hand of her Savior on Sunday, September 29, 2013, and allowed him to lead her away from her seven-year battle with cancer into a place where such things are no longer her care. She was born March 1, 1942, in Charleston, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Avery Gardener and the late Ann (Wise) Gardener. Annie was united in marriage to Howard Glenn Paul on January 3, 1964. He survives at their home. Annie was an active member of the Mokane United Methodist Church and a 25 year member of Mokane Chapter #352 Order of the Eastern Star. Some left behind to mourn her loss include her husband of nearly 50 years, Howard Glenn Paul; four children, Cynthia Ann (John) Trembley of St. Louis, Athena Susie (Marvin) Kemp of Mokane, Diana Leigh (Art) Slaughter of New Bloomfield, and Timothy James "T.J." (Rachael) Paul of Tebbetts; nine grandchildren, Corey (Erica), Alex, Jessi, Lauren, Justis, Christie, Zoe, Wesley, and Alexia; one great-grandchild, Kennedy; and two brothers, James A. (Linda) Wise of Charleston, South Carolina, and Avery W. (Cindy) Gardener Jr. of Arkansas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Maupin Funeral Home with Pastor Pati Tynes officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Liberty Cemetery off State Road PP.
