Richard W. Salmons, 80, of Fulton, died Saturday, October 5, 2013, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was born April 21, 1933, in Callaway County, Missouri, the son of the late Overt Roe and Leta (Musgrove) Salmons. On November 17, 1951, he married Opal Butcher in Fulton. She survives of the home. Richard was an avid Cardinal fan. Most of all he loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He was employed at Harbison-Walker for 28 years until it closed. Then he retired from Fulton State Hospital after 10 years of service. He loved gardening, hunting and woodworking. Richard built their home and much of the furniture in it. Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 61 years, Opal; one daughter, Ellen Pendergras of Fulton; two sons, Michael (Stephanie) Salmons of Fulton and Scott (Karla) Salmons of Madison; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four step- great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers; Fred (Mary Jo) Salmons of Auxvasse and Ralph Salmons of Fulton; one sister, Thelma (Kenneth) Morris of Fulton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by three sisters; two brothers; a son, Richard; and one son-in-law, Emmett Pendergras. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Rev. Walter Lockhart officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Fulton. Expression of sympathy may be made to American Diabetes Association, c\o the Debo Funeral Home.
