Lucile Amanda Powell, 94, of Fulton, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at the Fulton Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born April 28, 1919, in Cass County, Texas, the daughter of the late Richard W. and Annie Wilma (Moore) Vestal. Lucile attended school at Gaston School in Turner Town, Texas. On June 5, 1937, she married Homer W. Brian who preceded her in death. Lucile moved to Curryville, Mo in 1956. She and a friend moved there to work at the Bobbie Brooks factory. She married C. F. "Jack" Powell on Jan. 21, 1961. He survives of the home. She was employed at Fulton State Hospital in the nursing department. She was later self-employed doing housekeeping and as a personal assistant to the elderly. Her hobbies included landscaping and gardening, quilting, fishing and camping, and she loved going to auctions. Lucile was a member of the Callaway Christian Church. She is also survived by one daughter, Louise (Tom) Mitchell of Columbia; one sister, Alice Johnson of Tyler, Texas; six grandchildren, Cheryl Clausen of Kansas City, Kathryn Cunningham of Columbia, Jana Williams of Pittsburg, Pa., Kelly Brian of Phoenix, Ariz., Eric Mitchell of Virginia Beach, Va., and Dawn Carinder of Millersburg; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Lucile was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry W. Brian; one daughter, Wilma Lee Brian; one grandson, Rick Brian; and five brothers and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. She will be laid to rest in Steedman Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wed. evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Steedman Cemetery c/o Debo Funeral Home, 883 Court St., Fulton, MO 65251.
