Larry E. Dickenson, 65, of Columbia, passed away on Wednesday, May 08, 2013, at his home. He was born December 15, 1947, in Springfield, Mo., the son of the late John Eugene Dickenson and Wanda (Downs) Dickenson. He was united in marriage to Dotty Thomas on December 30, 1972, in Fulton. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2006. Larry was a graduate of Hickman High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked in construction for Dickenson Plastering. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Those left to cherish Larry's memory are his mother, Wanda of Columbia; sons, James "Jamie" Dickenson and wife Heidi of Hartsburg, and Michael Poe and wife Shelly of Columbia; brothers, Rick Dickenson and wife Bev of Hallsville, and Denny Dickenson of Columbia; sister, Judy Lacy and husband Jerry of Cooper, Texas; and three grandchildren, Nadaleigh Thoenen, Logan Poe, and Jensen Poe. Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, May 10, 2013, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Jim Gregory officiating. Interment will follow at Mokane Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of customary memorials, the family suggests donations be made in Larry's name to the American Cancer Society, c/o Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, Mo. 65251.
