Dennis Wayne Lavy, 57, of Auxvasse, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013, at his home. Dennis was born Sept. 1, 1955, in Troy, the son of Walter Delrey and Ann Elizabeth (Palmer) Lavy. On Oct. 10, 1987, in Hatton, he married Sandy Haley. She survives. Mr. Lavy graduated from Montgomery County High School in 1973. He worked for Callaway Carriers and had been a farmer. Dennis attended the Auxvasse Christian Church and was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Troy. He was also a member of the North Callaway Booster Club and Westminster Blue Jay Baseball Boosters. Mr. Lavy was the owner/operator of Lavy Field of Dreams and an avid bowler, achieving more than 15 perfect games. He loved his garden and mowing. He was the Manager of the Mid-Missouri Nightmare Baseball Team from 2003 - 2008. Dennis was especially proud that all the Nightmare boys attended college. Survivors include: his wife, Sandy of the home; three sons, Zane Lavy of Auxvasse, Zeth Lavy of Fulton and Zach Lavy of Auxvasse; his mother, Ann Lavy of Columbia; and three sisters, Durella Gibble of Milford, Del., Sherry Lavy of Sparks, Nev. and Debby Henke and husband, John of Hallsville. Dennis was preceded in death by his father, Delrey Lavy. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Arnold Funeral Home with Alan Bailey officiating. Visitation is from 4 - 8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Auxvasse Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dennis Lavy Scholarship Fund, c/o Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S.
