Mildred Wilcox Hufstedler, 87, of Fulton, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at her home. She was born October 13, 1925, in Fayette, the daughter of the late Leslie Hume Thurman and the late Mildred (Miller) Thurman. On October 25, 1944 she was united in marriage to Walter Wilcox, who preceded her in death in 1993. Mildred then married Ronald Hufstedler in September of 2004. Ronald preceded her in death in 2008. Mildred retired from International Harvester after 38 years of service. She also worked at H&R Block, Elite Auto & Marine, and Approved Automotive & Racing. She was a volunteer at Kingdom Christian Academy. Mildred loved basket weaving, making Christmas candy, and eating out at the Dragon Kitchen. Mildred thought of others before herself and always wanted to know if there was anything she could do for others. Mildred will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Charles Robert "Doc" Wilcox and his significant other, Rosa Robinson, of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Mistie Dawn Pounders and husband, Bill, Robyn Ann Swaffer and husband Steve, William "Bub" Wilcox and wife Julie, Starlite Wilcox and significant other Roger, Christopher Robin Wilcox and wife Lisa, Seth Wilcox and wife Laura, and Joshua Caleb Wilcox; 20 great-grandchildren, Sgt. Chad Parvis, Sgt. Heath "Beaver" Parvis, Anna Pounders, Stephanie Pounders, Heidi Joy Schwend, Stephen Swaffer, Rachel Swaffer, Jonathan Swaffer, LCPL William Nathaniel Wilcox and wife Lacey, Jonathon Wilcox, Matthew Wilcox, David Pena, Isaiah Pena, Grace Pena, Kayla Wilcox, Zachery Wilcox, Brittany Wilcox, Cheyenne Wilcox, Katlyn Wilcox, and Dakota Wilcox; and one niece, Judi Allen of Fort Collins, Colo. In addition to her parents and her husbands, Mildred was preceded in death by two great-grandsons, Ha'Hantay Wilcox and Walter Cole Wilcox; one brother, Leslie H. "Bud" Thurman; two sisters, Ann Jacobson and Betty Allen; and one granddaughter-in-law, Melissa D. Wilcox. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton with Reverend Jim Shaver officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, also at Maupin Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Armstrong.
