Robert G. "Bob" Christensen Sr.

Robert G. "Bob" Christensen Sr., 82, of Auxvasse, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 in Port Aransas, Texas. He was born May 27, 1930, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Herman and Lottie (McPherson) Christensen and grew up in Climbing Hill, Iowa. On July 3, 1948, he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Ann Tabke, and she preceded him in death in 2007. Bob and his growing family traveled throughout the midwest during the early stages of his career in road construction working as a motorgrader operator with Reno Construction. He worked on projects from the Kansas Turnpike, to the Lake of the Ozarks and some of the first major roads in Columbia. Bob and Margaret chose the Hatton area as their family's permanent home. He joined Richardson and Bass Construction in Columbia and worked his way up in the company, serving several years as president of the company. From 1992 until present, he was a principal figure in Christensen Construction Company. Bob was active in the construction industry. He was a past board member and president of AGC and a charter member of the Missouri Asphalt Pavement Association. He was on the Board of Directors of United Security Bank of Auxvasse He enjoyed family, work and winters in Texas but he was happiest at home on the family farm spending time with the kids and grandkids. He will be remembered with love as ìPapaî. He is survived by his five children: Juli Laydon and husband Hal of Lake Ozark, Mo., Robert Christensen Jr. and wife Rosemary of Columbia, Mo., Marsha Moore and husband Craig and Deanna Knipp and husband Kenny both of Auxvasse, Mo., and Tom Christensen and wife Katherine of Fulton, Mo.; three sisters: Betty Ludwig of Sioux City, Iowa, Carolyn Sulsberger and husband Roger of Hornick, Iowa, and Marilyn Fredinberg and husband Don of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren: Michael Auer and wife Michelle, and their children: Jacob, Madison, Meghan, Lily; Matthew Auer, Amy Skeans and husband John, and their children: Olivia and Eric; Robert Christensen and wife Brandi, and their children: Alexandria and Bobby Christensen and Gabe Mercado; Andrew Christensen and wife Katrina, and their children: Valerie and William; Katee Christensen, Chris Moore and wife Sarah, and their children: Christian, Collin, Colton and Cayden; Dr. Elizabeth Moore-Bhogapurapu and husband Hari, and soon to arrive Baby Bhogapurapu; Dr. Joshua Moore and wife Kim, and their daughter Akira Moore; Jennifer Moore and fiancÈ Adam Blumhagan, Alex Moore, Jason Knipp and wife Rebecca, Paige Knipp, Mitchell Christensen and wife Jordyn, Wilson Christensen, Nicholas Christensen, and Samuel Christensen.
