Robert D. Martin Sr., 84, of Fulton, passed away Monday, July 8, 2013, at Fulton Nursing and Rehab. He was born September 11, 1928, in Sledge, Miss., the son of the late Nathaniel Martin and the late Katie (Lyons) Martin. Robert enjoyed fishing and hunting. He spent his early years as a farmer before moving on to the Fulton State Hospital and eventually Gaspers Restaurant, where he worked until his retirement. Robert was a private person and a very spiritual man. He will be missed dearly by his family and loved ones. Robert will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by four sons, Robert D. Martin Jr. of Fulton, Donald E. Martin of Jefferson City, Willie Martin of Fulton, and Steven Martin of Fulton; three daughters, Lovey Wilson of Fulton, Lizzie Churchill of St. Louis, and Martha Mitchell of Columbia; one brother, James Martin of Columbia; one sister, Ruth Jones of Columbia; 11 grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by three daughters, JoAnn Martin, Barbara Martin-Gilliam, and Lenora Martin; one brother, George Martin; and one sister, Maggie West. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2013, at Callaway Memorial Gardens in Fulton with Chaplain Tom Graddy officiating.
