Howard Maddox, 74, of Kingdom City, passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at his home. He was born September 10, 1938 in Rolla, Mo., the son of the late Howard and Rosetta (Salter) Maddox. He was united in marriage to Patsy Steward in 1962 in Miami, Okla. She survives at their home. Howard proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He worked at Fulton State Hospital as a security guard, retiring in 1995 after 25 years. He had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a gunsmith. His greatest love was his family. Along with his wife of 50 years, Howard's presence will be missed in the lives of his sons, William Maddox and wife Cheryl of Hatton, and David Maddox of Holts Summit; daughters, Kelly Cole and husband James of Kingdom City, and Shelly Wulff of Holts Summit; brothers, David Maddox of Richland, and Daniel Maddox of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Dorothy Roam of Richland; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved cats, Reggie and Ruby Sue. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Rick Maddox. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Mike Crowson officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of customary memorials, the family suggests donations be made in Howard's name to the Humane Society, c/o Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, MO 65251.
