Larry Thomas Holt, 64, of Fulton, passed away on Monday, February 25, 2013, at Callaway Community Hospital. He was born March 23, 1948, in Fulton, the son of Samuel Holt and the late Ethel (Lee) Holt. He served two years with the Army in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. On February 21, 1970, after his tour ended, he was united in marriage to Jewel (Davis) Holt, who survives his passing at the home. Their marriage of 43 years stands as an inspiration to all of us. Larry was a member of Guiding Light Missionary Baptist Church. He recently retired from Harbison Walker after 30 years, where he was highly respected by his fellow workers and friends. Many know him for his generous spirit, gentle manner, and positive words of encouragement. He was a father to all and his grandchildren adored him. Everyone who met him established their own nickname from him. In addition to his wife, Larry will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one son, Chris Holt of Fulton; one daughter, Kortney Haynes and husband, Raymond Sr., of Jefferson City; three brothers, Lawrence Holt and wife, Sarah, of Fulton, Samuel Lee and wife, Violet, of Vandalia, and Terry Joe Holt and wife, Janyce, of Vandalia; two sisters, Nancy Lee of Fulton and Peggy Holt of Seattle, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Caleb Holt, Jazmyn Holt, Devin Holt, Aleya Haynes, BreIona Haynes, Raymond Haynes Jr., and Kisyn Haynes; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Perkins of New London and Bobbie Hall of Lima, Ohio; three brothers-in-law, Robert Mitchell of Memphis, Tenn, Edward Davis of Bowling Green, and Curtis Davis and wife, Sherry, of Corpus Christi, Texas; and a host of family and friends. In addition to his mother, Larry was preceded in death by one brother, Gino Holt. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Victory Fellowship Church, 6850 State Road NN, in Fulton with Pastor Charles Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday also at Victory Fellowship Church. Interment will be held at Southside Cemetery in Fulton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Family of Larry Holt, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton, MO 65251.
