Robert G. "Bob" Gowin

Robert G. "Bob" Gowin, 95, of Fulton, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Presbyterian Manor. He was born November 21, 1917, in Williamsburg, Mo., the son of the late Frank Lee and Cordelia (Bentley) Gowin. Bob was united in marriage to Edith Hume on January 4, 1941, in Warrenton, Mo. She preceded him in death. For over 20 years Betty Gaumer was Bob's companion. She preceded him in death on December 14, 2002. Bob grew up in Williamsburg and made his home south of Calwood. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed working with mules and horses. He retired from Harbison Walker. Bob is survived by two sons, Jim Gowin and his wife Diann of Williamsburg, Iowa, and Rusty Gowin and his wife Susan of Hallsville; two daughters, Sharon Gowin of Fulton, and Nita Dinardi of Alexandria, Egypt; brother, Roy Gowin of Adam, Wisconsin; sisters, Daisy Perry and Ruby Wheat, both of Fulton; 10 grandchildren, Terry Gowin of Atlanta, Ga., Dan Gowin of Altoona, Iowa., Andy Hudson of Auxvasse, Arron Moser of Auxvasse, Richard Grimm of Kansas City, Mo., Rocksanna Witte of Kansas City, Mo., Matthew Gowin of Columbia, Mo., Charles Gowin of Hallsville, Mo., Maggie Gowin of Fulton, and William Gowin of Washington DC; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; son, Robby Gowin; one sister; seven brothers; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Interment will follow in Millersburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013, at the funeral home.
