Mrs. Earle "Brownie" (Mary Jean) Maerz

Mrs. Earle "Brownie" (Mary Jean) Maerz died on the ninth day of February, 2013 in Columbia, Missouri. She was born to Harry and Mary Fisher, Aug. 11, 1919, in Fulton. She married Earle B. Maerz, May 26, 1939, who preceded her in death August 13, 2001. Mrs. Maerz and her husband owned and operated Maerz Jewelers in Fulton, until they retired in 1980. Mrs. Maerz was an elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Fulton until moving to Lenoir Retirement Home when she transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian Church in Columbia. She was an over fifty-year member of O. F. S. Chapter 35 of Eastern Star. She was also active in the Downtown Merchants Association and an avid quilter. Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Jan Harrison of Fulton; two sons, Mike Maerz and his wife, Myrna of Columbia, and Steve Maerz and his wife, Carla of Olathe, Kan. Other survivors include: seven grandchildren, Cami and her husband, Mike Webb, of Auxvasse, Jack and his wife, Dawn Harrison of Auxvasse, Melissa and her husband, Dr. Justin Malone of Columbia, Zach Harrison of Fulton, Andrew and his wife, Tanya Maerz of St. Louis, Rachael Maerz of Kansas City, and Stefanie and her husband, Mike Kruetzkamp of Roeland Park, Kan.; six great-grandchildren, Brock, Baylor and Bella Webb and Sydney Harrison all of Auxvasse, and twins, Jack and Madeline Jean Malone of Columbia. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 16, 2013, at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton, with visitation following the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association and Boone Wound Clinic.
