Eden B. Peterson

Eden B. Peterson, 92, died Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Eunice Smith Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Leslie S. and Anne (Platter) Byler. She was born March 22, 1921 in Old Linn Creek, Mo. She graduated from Fulton High School in Fulton, Mo., class of 1938 and was a proud graduate of William Woods College in Fulton, Mo. She was owner, President, and general manager of Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery in Godfrey for over 45 years, retiring in 1993. She had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton since November, 1949. She taught for many years in Vacation Bible School and Sunday School. Survivors include: son, Terrence G. Peterson; two daughters, Kerren (Peterson) and Roger Vollmer of Post Falls, ID, and E. Kay (Peterson) Greear of Bunker Hill; former daughter-in-law, Stephanie Brown of St. Louis, Mo.; former son-in-law, Bob Greear and his wife, Judy of Godfrey; five grandchildren, David Vollmer and his wife, Tina of Tulsa, Okla., Eden Renae (Greear) Barnes and her husband, Lindsay of Godfrey, Leslie Anne (Vollmer) Lehman and her husband, Kurt of Sandpoint, ID, Shaina Peterson and Alyssa Peterson of St. Louis, Mo.; six great grandchildren, Brennon Vogt of Godfrey, Tyler, August, and Andrew Lehman of Sandpoint, ID, and twins, Jayden and Serenity Vollmer of Tulsa, Okla. Also, surviving are special family friends, Bertha Baldridge of Godfrey and Jana Searles of Alton, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, George David Byler and Dorris Byler and Jim Kiffmeyer, the late fiancÈ, of her daughter, Kay. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2013, at Calvary Baptist Church in Alton, Ill. Reverend Andre' Dobson and Reverend Rick Patrick will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church in Alton, Ill.
