Robert Haley

Robert (Bob) Haley, 78, of Auxvasse, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, at the Missouri Veteran's Home. Bob was born November 14, 1935, to James Haley and Willie Mae Webster-Haley in St. Louis, Mo. Bob married Louise Baker on February 14, 1989, in Cos- ta Mesa, Calif. Louise preceded Bob in death in April 2006. Bob served in the Marine Corp. Bob was an avid collector of guns, he enjoyed game hunts and fishing. He was an award winning skeet shooter. He and Louise loved to travel, collect antiques and go to swap meets. After Louise's' death, Bob returned to Missouri in 2006 to be near his children. Bob continued his love of hunting and fishing and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He loved to read western books and watch old western movies on television. Bob quickly became a North Callaway Thunderbird fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play softball, baseball, basketball and football. Bob was a glazier by trade and was a member of the Glazier Union. One of the jobs Bob was most proud of was his work on the light columns at Los Angeles International Airport. Bob was a Free Mason, and a member of the Auxvasse Christian Church. Bob leaves four children, Susan (J.D.) Galen, Sandy Lavy, Butch (Carla) Haley of Auxvasse, Mo., Richard (Anita) Haley of Columbia, Mo.; 3 step children, Bill Baker (Jennifer), Lisa Baker of Montana, and Marie Sheppard of Garden Grove, Calif.; grandchildren, Dale (Carolyn) Wilson, Tonya (Joel) Vanderslice, Jeremy (Amy) Galen, Christen Haley, Brittany (Darrin) Baker, Kayla and Shannon Haley, Zane, Zeth, and Zach Lavy, Justin and Matt Gipson; step grandchildren, Cody and Brian Baker, Liane, Abbey and Garrett Sheppard; great grandchildren, Taylor, Lani and Emma Wilson, Keegan Galen, Karley and Wyatt Vanderslice, Shawn Mahnken, Lily Haley, Keeley, Morgan and Hunter Gipson; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Haley of Bowling Green, KY and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James (Sonny) Haley, a sister, Barbara Jean Morgan and son-in-law, Denny Lavy. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico, Mo. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Auxvasse Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be, Dale Wilson, Jeremy Galen, Zane Lavy, Zeth Lavy, Zach Lavy, Joel Vanderslice.
