Edgar Garrell (E.G.) Garrett

Reverend Edgar Garrell (E.G.) Garrett, 80, of Fulton, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at his home. He was born December 3, 1931, in Columbia, the son of the late Edgar Garrell "Dib" Garrett and Ruth (Corder) Garrett. On December 24, 1949, he was united in marriage to Loretta Jean (Evans) Garrett, who survives his passing. Rev. Garrett graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia in 1948. After a few years operating a dairy farm in Mid Missouri, he attended and graduated from Kansas City College and Bible School with a degree in Theology. He then received a master's degree in Counseling from Moody Bible Institute. He spent his whole life in Ministry, pastoring several churches in Missouri and Kansas. Rev. Garrett enjoyed flying his airplane, riding his motorcycle, and woodworking. He loved his family and enjoyed his last outing with them at the Garrett Family Reunion in August of this year. In addition to his wife, Rev. Garrett will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by three daughters, Patricia Ravenscraft and husband, Gene, of Rocheport, Diane McCarthy of Overland Park, Kan., and Julie Dawn Forbis and husband, Michael, of Kansas City; one son, David Garrett and wife, Kim, of Lee's Summit; 11 grandchildren, Sharon, Beth, Darla, Lance, Lana, Matthew, Tara, Amanda, Derrick, Brandon, and Hunter; and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Rev. Garrett was preceded in death by one brother, Granville Garrett. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at Church of God (Holiness) in Fulton with Reverend Travis Saylor and Reverend Mark Avery officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012, at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Interment will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens.
